A family house rebuilt around two hearths: a stone fireplace and a long kitchen island.
The fireplace wall was clad floor to ceiling in honed stone, with shelving on both sides for books instead of objects.
In the kitchen, dark-stained wood and warm metal keep a large room from feeling like a showroom.
